SHELLY – A1065826
Safe - 3-12-2016 Manhattan
***SAFE 03/12/16***STAND BY YOUR CAT….We certainly don’t see that around here….And definitely not in SHELLY’s case. SHELLY is a bit on the fearful side….note that she is not spayed nor has she been to a vet….and SHELLY bit someone. So rather than see SHELLY through this, her owners decided it was easier to dump her…..SHELLY is a SWEET, AFFECTIONATE cat who rolled over during her assessment. She is a cat that startles easily, something her owners recognized but did nothing about…..PLEASE DON’T LET THE ACC KILL SHELLY FOR A BUM RAP….APPLY TO FOSTER OR ADOPT HER NOW!! If you need assistance, email the HELP DESK at [email protected]

02/29/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Shelly allows strangers to pet her but will act hyper when a stranger comes to the home. She will run back and forth and will jump up on the couch. Shelly is fearful of loud noises and will attempt to scratch when something falls near her or if she is startled. Shelly has not resided with children or other animals. Reaction to assessor: Shelly does not come to the front but looks at the assessor – is calm, relaxed and friendly. Reaction when softly spoken to: Shelly comes to the front of the cage – soliciting attention and rubbing against the cage front. Reaction to cage door opening: Shelly remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Shelly initially pulls away, but after given some time to warm up, she rubs against the assessor’s hand and rolls over. She allows the stroke for a brief time, pulls away cautiously, then returns to solicit more attention. Behavior Determination: Experience, no children Shelly tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his or her new home. She may have some behavioral issues that will need to be addressed in the home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
