07/29/2017 PET PROFILE MEMO
07/29/17 15:19 Shadow’s owner describes him as being a very low key cat. When guests come in the home he typically is not bothered and does not move from his spot to greet them. He has lived with young children and enjoys being pet by them. He will present his stomach for belly rubs and is not bothered when they rub him. He has no history of biting people or other animals, and has not lived with other cats or dogs in the past. His owners have never given him a bath or tried clipping his nails. In his younger years he never had any litter box issues, but now that he has gotten older he has had more occuring accidents outside of the litterbox. He uses an uncovered litterbox with clumping litter. He eats both wet and dry food, and prefers the dry mixed with wet. He is not a big fan of toys and does not use a scratching post, but he does not scratch any wood or furniture in the house either.

Allows all petting, leaning in with tail raised. Begins to knead paws with continued petting. Very friendly – doing well! EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is slightly re-arranged Reaction to assessor: Shadow approaches the front and is calm, relaxed, and friendly. Reaction when softly spoken to: Shadow lifts his rear and rubs his head against the cage door. Reaction to cage door opening: Shadow remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Shadow rubs against his cage furnishings and head-butts the assessor. He leans in for petting and purrs like a pigeon while he kneads. Reaction to being picked up: Shadow becomes tense and struggles to be placed back down. He continues to do this each time he’s picked up, but will continue to solicit attention after. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Social, Sweet, Affectionate POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: Uncomfortable with pick up – Shadow did not appear to like being picked up during their behavior evaluation. Please keep in mind there are many reasons why a cat may be uncomfortable with this type of handling and that this may not necessarily translate into a home environment. We recommend any future home with children be counseled in respecting the cat’s space and for the family to use care when picking him up, especially while he is still adjusting to his new home. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Average Shadow interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems.
