***SAFE 09/18/16***SAD AND CONFUSED PANTHER’S OWNER DIED–LET’S MAKE SURE HE DOESN’T SUFFER THE SAME FATE! Shadow is a ten year old housecat who was dumped at the shelter when his former purrson died and no family member or friend stepped up to help him. He is naturally frightened at being cramped into a cage and senses-feels the death and doom that surrounds him. He is also being treated for a painful broken nail on one of his hind paws. He needs a kind and patient purrson to offer him a new “leash” on life. Surely, once he decompresses from his shelter experience and learns to trust people again, he will settle in and be a good companion. Shadow has been slapped with a NH rating due to his fear. Please give him a chance to live by offering to foster or adopt. You will have to contact a NH rescue if you can help Shadow. So if you are ready to don your super hero cape, email our help desk and we will help you through the easy peasy process–[email protected]. Shadow only has tonight. Let’s move this sad housecat to safe haven by making the call for SHADOW NOW!!!

09/13/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Shadow was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. He was very tense upon intake and displayed distance increasing behaviors when attempting to handle him. He displayed the same behaviors during his initial medical exam. Reaction to assessor: Shadow was curled up by the back, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Shadow does not respond and doesn’t turn to face the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Shadow becomes stiff and alert, his eyes widening. Reaction to touch: Shadow hisses and focuses on the assessor’s hand. He does not allow touch; he hisses and continues to shift away to avoid contact. Placement Determination: New Hope Only Shadow is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to swat, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment, and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
