Lying in back of kennel with a low, tense body, pupils dilated. He tolerates slow and gentle petting with the bear-claw while turning his head to watch it, ears flat and face tense. Uncomfortable -needs more time to adjust.

Lying in back of kennel, body tense and pupils dilated. Tolerates petting along head and body while backing away and turning head to watch the scratcher. Comes forward to sniff treats and eats them after I’ve walked away from his kennel. Needs more time to adjust.

Reaction to assessor:
Shadow comes forward with a relaxed body and gently rubs his cheeks up against the kennel door.
Reaction when softly spoken to:
Shadow’s pupils dilate, his tail quivers and he continues to solicit attention at the front of the cage.
Reaction to cage door opening:
Shadow remains calm.
Reaction to touch:
Shadow sniffs the assessor’s hand and leans in for petting and rubs along his body. He appreciates attention, rolls around and gives head bumps, but frequently gets distracted and becomes hyper focused on his surroundings. His body becomes stiff, tail sways and he takes awhile to distract him. After a few minutes of attention he bats at the assessor’s hand and nips with moderate pressure.
Reaction to being picked up:
Shadow was a bit tense when picked up, but remained calm and allowed all handling.

In car rides Shadow will cry. Shadow enjoys getting baths and once he hears the shower go on he will run towards the bathroom. Shadow also enjoys being brushed. Previous owners did not attempt to trim his nails. Shadow isnt bothered when being picked up and held for a few minutes and then will jump out of your arms. Shadow isnt bothered when being placed in a carrier.

Shadow was described as friendly, playful and active. When home with shadow he will follow the owner around. Shadow enjoys playing with stuffed toys and bells. Shadow eats blue buffalo dry food and has an automatic feeder. Shadow is litter box trained and uses an uncovered litter box with fresh step clumping litter. Shadow has a Tree house that he likes to play on and uses a scratching post made of rope and cardboard. Shadow also likes to scratch on the rug. When its time for bed Shadow sleeps on the chair or on the bed.

Shadow was quiet during intake. Shadow began to hiss growl and swat in the carriers. Shadow did not allow to be scanned or collared.
