SAFE 7/2/17 I’VE BEEN HERE ALMOST A MONTH, PLEASE TAKE ME HOME Today! A volunteer interprets: Happy Summer, everyone! My name is Severus, and I’m almost 2 years old. Whoa, in cat years that means I’m…well, I don’t know how to do math, but I think it means I’m a grown up dude now. And that’s pretty cool! I wanted to tell you a few other things that I think are cool. First of all, bottle caps. Have ever you ever played with them? No? Then you are missing out! I also love strings and balls and eating dry food. I also think it’s cool to get brushed (gotta keep your coat on point!) and to get cheek rubs. Other cool things are sleeping on the couch, sleeping on my cat tree, and playing with my human friends. I’m a mellow, friendly, independent guy, and I would love to hear about all the things you think are cool. Maybe you can come meet me, and you’ll think I’m cool, and then we can be forever roommates? If that sounds cool to you, come on down and meet me!

Basic info:
Severus is a almost two year old neutered black and white cat who was surrendered by his owner due to the fact she is moving and cannot take Sererus.
Owner stated that she got Serverus at 5 months old from the ACC and has had him ever since. Severus has no known medical issues.
Socialization:
Owner stated that Severus is friendly and outgoing around strangers. He has not spent time around children so it is unknown how he will react. When playing with adults Severus is gentle. Severus has not spent time around other cats so it is unknown how he will react. He has spent time round dogs and owner stated that he is very tolerant.
Behavior:
Owner stated Severus does scratch the furniture. On the way here in the car he was relaxed and sleeping. Sererus has never had his nails trimmed or been bathed so it is unknown how he will react. Severus likes to be brushed. He isn’t bothered if he is held, put in the carrier or disturbed while he sleeps.
For a new family to know:
Owner described Severus as friendly, mellow, independent and quiet with a medium activity level. His favorite activity is playing with bottle caps. He also likes string and balls. He has been kept indoors only and eats dry food. He likes to sleep on the sofa and in his cat tree. Severus is very much litter box trained and never has accidents. He uses a hooded litter box with clumping clay. He has a scratching post in his prior home made out of cardboard and rough rope.
Upon intake Severus had a tense body, once outside the carrier he fleed. Cousnelor was able to lift him and place him on the counter for photos and collar.
ENRICHMENT:
05/28/17
Lying in back of kennel with ears forward, legs stretched out. He looks around the room as I open the kennel door. He avoids touch when I reach forward, backing away and dodging his head as I try to pet him. He turns his head and lowers it all the way to the floor, then tries to dart past my hand and out the kennel. Evasive – needs more time to adjust. Sprayed feliway.
05/29/17
At front of kennel, leaning against kennel door with a tail raised. He remains relaxed in the front as I open the kennel door, then shrinks away from my hand as I try to touch him. He avoids touch while lowering his head to the floor, ears flat and eyes squinted. Whips head away every time I get close to touching it. He eats the tuna I place on the floor and I try clicker training him. First I reward him every time he comes forward. After a few minutes of this I try touching his head – he allows it and leans into my touch with his tail raised. I then reward him everytime he allows me to touch him along his head and body. Did well this session! Has potential to continue to warm up here. Sprayed feliway.
