*** SAFE 08/11/17 *** ANOTHER ROUND FOR SWEET SAVI – WHOSE ADOPTION HOLD FELL THROUGH!! SAVI had a hold last night by a member of the public but it didn’t work out. She is now being given a second chance. WATCH HER VIDEO!! A volunteer writes: A princess with beautiful, royal Tabby markings. A little shy at first, she soon warmed up to me. After sniffing me, she gently put her paw on top of my hand, which she promptly licked. At this point I was totally charmed. In addition to being sweet and adorable, she has a purr that could lull you to sleep at night.
**RETURN** SAVI lost her home to eviction – she is spayed and friendly and was head – butting and purring at intake. Give this girl a new place to call home!!

08/09/2017 AT RISK MEMO
Savi A0998799 is at risk due to behavior. Savi displays conflicting behaviors throughout her stay in the shelter. She would grumble and hiss, but would also roll over and solicit attention. She appears to be easily overstimulated during interactions and may swat after a few strokes. She appeared to be doing much better recently, but will seems to display distance-increasing behaviors at random times. The behavior team believes she’s a young energetic cat that would benefit from having lots of space and play time. It is in her best interest to be placed into a stable home environment as quickly as possible.

07/22/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Somewhat chatty CHARACTER TYPE: Social, Curious MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 7/20/17- Observed Behavior: conflicted; will head butt, then swat ENRICHMENT NOTES: 7/20/17- Seems very conflicted. Eyes dilated, started hissing and grumbling on approach, while simultaneously rolling over and rubbing against the bars. Lay down after a bit, started grooming. Retreated to back of cubby when door opened, leaned away from touch. Ate offered treat after door closed, then resumed cheek-rubbing cage furnishings. 7/23/17 Immediately came to front on approach, soft eyes and body, started rubbing against the bars. Leaned and arched into pets, then hissed once when pet along rear. Swatted through bars when door closed. Seemed to calm down again quickly, overstimulated? 7/24/17 Came immediately out to front on approach, soft eyes and body, started rubbing against the bars. Leaned and arched into pets, purred, no hissing today! EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Savi looks neutral, sitting upright on her cage bedding during the approach. Reaction to cage door opening: Savi engages the front with tail up, soft eyes, ears erect and forward. Reaction to touch: Savi head bunts the assessor’s hand and purrs. After a few strokes, Savi randomly hisses during the petting and grumbles while continuing to solicit. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Initially Savi solicits petting and attention, but after a few soft passes over the body she begins to hiss and grumble at the assessor. This may be a sign of petting-induced aggression, where repeated physical contact results in discomfort for the cat, or it may be a sign of overstimulation. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Savi becomes reactive. Treats should be used to reward appropriate responses to physical attention.
