SASSY – A1114887
Safe - 6-29-2017 Manhattan
***SAFE 06/29/17***A volunteer writes: Seriously, how much affection can you handle? If you’re the kind of person who needs your space, who likes an empty lap and is just looking for some independent companionship, Sassy’s not for you (but we have many that are). As soon as I opened her door she was so excited she started kneading from paw to paw, sort of like she was marching (kneading is the most adorable thing cats do, it’s what kittens do when nursing to keep the flow of milk going). She was staring adoringly into my eyes and gave me little nose kisses. When I stopped petting her, she reached out a gentle paw hoping to draw my hand back to her. When I closed her door and went away for a few minutes and then looked back at her, there she was, sitting upright like a Buddha, marching from paw to paw. Just a short dose of affection kept her going for quite a while. One word of caution though, Sassy is intoxicating so you may want to wait a bit before you drive.

06/10/2017 PET PROFILE MEMO
06/10/17 13:57 Basic Info Sassy is a 11 year old DSH whose owners did not have time or money to continue caring for her. The last time Sassy has seen a vet was on 11/16 and she had a clean bill of health. Socialization When strangers come over sassy is shy and will hide for a couple of hours before coming out and sometimes she won’t come out until the new person has left. When children visit she has the same reaction and usually tries to avoid them. Sassy lives with another cat in the home and she is with the cat at all ties and is relaxed and respectful of the other cat. She has not been around other cats before. There is a dog in the home as well that she gets along with well and is relaxed around but she does not try to interact with the dog too much but allows the dog to incite playful behavior. She has never bitten a person or animal before. Behavior She likes to scratch on the carpet and pull at the carpet fabric. She does not have litter box issues. She does not like her litter box to get too dirty or she will shovel some litter onto the floor and use the bathroom on the floor where she put litter. She will nip or bite when trimming her nails and is not bothered by being brushed but struggles a little when being picked up. New Family Sassy has a medium level of activity at home and likes to follow her owners around the home and plays with balls. She is kept solely indoors. She likes to drink out of the toilet and so access should be restricted. She sleeps in her owners bed and is fed purina1 dry cat food twice daily. She uses the box well and has a hooded litter box with clumping litter. She has a scratch post that she scratches on made of burlap and carpet. Intake Behavior Sassy hissed at counselor but allowed all handling for intake but stays in a crouched stance with tail wrapped around.
