Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Sassy came into the care center as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She was a bit tense during her initial medical examination but has been easy to handle since intake. Sassy was motivated to interact with the assessor during her behavior evaluation, soliciting attention throughout and remaining at the front of the cage after the assessor stepped away. Reaction to assessor: Sassy is resting in her litterbox. She stands as the assessor approaches. Reaction to cage door opening: Sassy moves to the front of the cage to seek attention. Reaction to assessor: Sassy head butts and rubs on the assessor’s hand. She vocalizes (meows) and allows all petting as well as a gentle pick up in the cage. After the assessor closes the door she remains at the front, vocalizing and rubbing her cheeks on the cage bars. Placement determination: Average Sassy interacts with the Assessor, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
