Hello, my name is Sashimi. My animal id is #17032. I am a desexed female brown tabby cat at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 4 years old. – P
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 27-Dec-2017, with the surrender reason stated as not a fit – too many animals already.
Sashimi is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection and will likely require home rest and a series of antibiotics for up to 14 days. This is a contagious illness to other cats. Sashimi has been nervous but allowed some handling in the care center.

Potential challenges comments:: Shashimi has displayed fearful behavior during their stay in the care center and may dislike certain types of handling. A fearful cat will feel more relaxed when given options, so provide her with the chance to move closer, investigate, or interact with you. Be sure to offer incentive such as treats or play time whenever the cat makes a small positive step. Please speak to an adoption counselor for additional information on methods to desensitize your cat to their fear stimulus.
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Experience
Behavior Asilomar: TM – Treatable-Manageable
RECOMMENDATIONS:: None
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Please note that Sashimi is being treated for an upper respiratory infection at the time of the behavior assessment. This condition may affect some of the behaviors shown during evaluation. Sashimi may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
