*** SAFE 01/09/18 *** Sarabi is a friendly, attention-seeking senior lady who hasn’t been eating much the past few days, so we’d love to find her a forever home ASAP. SARABI is an 8-10 yr old girl who was found stuck to a fence when her collar got caught. The finder brought Sarabi to the shelter. She has severe dental issues which will need follow up vet care. She is friendly and needs a home asap!!

I came into the shelter as a stray on 30-Dec-2017.

Sarabi is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection and will likely require home rest and a series of antibiotics for up to 14 days. This is a contagious illness to other cats. Sarabi has been friendly and easy to handle in the care center.

DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: 10 years old Microchip noted on Intake? no Microchip Number (If Applicable): History: Found with collar stuck to fence — good samaritan cut the collar to remove her from the fence Subjective: BAR. 4-6% dehydration Observed Behavior – Friendly. Allows all handling Evidence of Cruelty seen – no Evidence of Trauma seen – no Objective P = 160 R = 24 BCS 4/9 EENT: Nuclear sclerosis OU, dilated pupils (partial pupillary light response OU), Menace pesent OU (visual), ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: severe dental disease PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: Intact female MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, some dandruff CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: Geriatric with severe dental disease. Prognosis: good Plan: Provided 100ml SQ fluids at time of exam. Starting on 2 ml clindamycin (25mg/ml) po q24 for 10 days for dental disease. Recommend New Hope placement with full geriatric workup at local veterinary clinic.

Progress exam History: Intake 12/30-gave SQ LRS and started on clindamycin for dental disease. Subjective: QAR. Not eating. Looks unthrifty in cage. No c/s/v/d. No ocular or nasal d/c. Objective EENT: Nuclear sclerosis OU, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted H/L: Eupneic MSI: Ambulatory x 4 CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: Decreased appetite Geriatric Severe dental disease. Prognosis: good Plan: Continue clindamycin until 1/8 for dental disease. Recommend New Hope placement with full geriatric workup at local veterinary clinic. ACS reported large amount of diarrhea EENT: Nuclear sclerosis, no ocular or nasal discharge HL: No sneezing INTEG: Slightly unkempt, full coat MS: Ambulatory x 4 UG: Female A: Dental disease, hx of decreased appetite, mild anemia, mild azotemia, diarrhea – R/O antibiotic associated diarrhea vs other P: Adding metronidazole 0.4ml PO q12 x 5 days and LRS 100ml SQ q24 x 3 days. Scheduled for recheck tomorrow. Good prognosis

Not attention seeking today, very quiet EENT: Nuclear sclerosis, no ocular discharge, mild serous nasal discharge, pink mm, moderate dental tartar/gingivitis HL: Normal thoracic auscultation ABD: Soft, non tender INTEG: Unkempt hair coat MS: Ambulatory x 4 UG: Female A: Geriatric, dental disease, anorexic, R/O mild URI P: Move to isolation, start doxycycline 0.9ml PO q24 x 10 days, LRS 100ml SQ q24 x 2 days, simbadol 0.6ml SQ q24 x 2 days, mirtazipine 1/4 tab PO and offer variety of food. KNOWN HISTORY:: Sarabi was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Friendly. Allows all handling
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 01/02/18 Crouched in back of kennel, ears forward. Allows petting along head and body while leaning in and turning head to make eye contact, eyes soft. Begins to purr. Very sweet, doing well!
Cage Condition:: Cage is recently cleaned
Reaction to assessor:: Sarabi was curled up and relaxed in her litter box.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Sarabi lifts her head up and slow blinks at the assessor. She seems unsure of her surroundings and wouldn’t come forward when coat.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Sarabi is calm and relaxed.
Reaction to touch:: Sarabi sniffs the assessor’s hand, perks up when pet along her back and gives head butts. She slowly builds up confidence and rolls around while nuzzling against the assessor.
Reaction to being picked up:: Sarabi was a bit tense when picked up, but she remains calm and allows all handling.
