09/19/16 20:10 Basic Information: Samson is a 12 year old domestic short hair cat who was surrendered due to his previous owner being evicted. Socialization: Around strangers Samson is shy for a couple of minutes and doesn’t play with adults. Samson has never been around children or dogs so it is unknown how he will react to being around them. Samson has lived with two other cats and was relaxed and affectionate around them. Behavior: Samson has never bitten another person or animal and will often scratch on furniture covered in fabric. Samson has never been in a car so it is unknown how he will react to being in one. Samson’s previous owner did not attempt to give Samson a bath or trim his nails. Samson enjoys being brushed and placed in a carrier. Samson isn’t bothered by people picking him up/holding him or disturbing him while he is resting/sleeping. For a New family to Know: Samson is described as: friendly, mellow, shy, fearful and talkative with a medium activity level. When at home Samson will follow around his owner and doesn’t play with toys. Samson was kept indoors only and was fed both wet and dry food. Samson is litter box trained and used an uncovered litter box with sand litter. Samson used a scratching post made of carpet. Intake Behavior: Samson was a little nervous during his intake but allowed staff to collar, scan for a microchip and take pictures with no signs of aggression.

09/22/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Samson is shy around strangers for a couple of minutes and doesn’t play with adults. She lived with 2 other cats and was relaxed and affectionate with them. Samson doesn’t mind being picked up or held and she tends to scratch on furniture covered in fabric. Her owner describes her as mellow, friendly, shy, fearful and talkative with a medium activity level. Reaction to assessor: Samson moved his litter box forward and pressed his body up against the back wall. Reaction when softly spoken to: Samson lip licks and slowly turns his head away trying to avoid contact. Reaction to cage door opening: Samson remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Samson sniffs the assessor’s hand, allows petting and takes some time to warm up. After a couple of soft passes he slowly leans in for rubs and raises his rear up when rubbed on his back. He becomes affectionate and more relaxed but feels confident at the back of the kennel. Reaction to being picked up: Samson was tense when picked up and looks out, wary of his surroundings. Behavior Determination: Experience Samson may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
