SAMANTHA – A1090015
Safe - 10-5-2016 Brooklyn
***SAFE 10/05/16*** SECOND CHANCE FOR SAMANTHA!! MAKE IT COUNT!! ….Poor Samantha was surrendered to the ACC due to biting. It could simply be her rough playing and not her being aggressive. As per previous owner, Samantha has lived with children ages 9 and up and was respectful of them and would sometimes play rough. Around strangers Samantha is shy for a few minutes but warms up quickly and she hasn’t lived with other cats or dogs. Samantha doesn’t like being brushed or picked up and will scratch to get away. Her owner describes her as shy and fearful with a medium activity level. She enjoys playing with balls and stuffed mice and likes to be in the same room as her family. Samantha needs a new family tonight or she will be killed tomorrow. Samantha is on a very crowded list tonight and may easily get overlooked due to her bio. Please be the hero that saves her life tonight and contact a NEW HOPE RESCUE if you can foster or adopt.

09/21/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Samantha has lived with children ages 9 and up and was respectful of them and would sometimes play rough. Around strangers Samantha is shy for a few minutes but warms up quickly and she hasn’t lived with other cats or dogs. Samantha doesn’t like being brushed or picked up and will scratch to get away. Her owner describes her as shy and fearful with a medium activity level. She enjoys playing with balls and stuffed mice and likes to be in the same room as her family. Reaction to assessor: Samantha was hiding in her cat den at the back of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Samantha peeps her head out, cries and looks around wary of her environment. Reaction to cage door opening: Samantha retreats to the back in the den. Reaction to touch: Samantha slowly comes out when coaxed and leans forward to sniff the assessor’s hand. She allows limited contact before backing away and hissing. She seems unsure of contact and will slowly come forward to explore her surroundings. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Samantha tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his or her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
