BEHAVIOR:
KNOWN HISTORY:
Sam was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. He was friendly during intake, allowing the counselor to hold and pet him. He attempted to flee, but the counselor was able to conduct all handling.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:
Observed Behavior – Social, friendly but seems stressed, wiggly with restraint.
ENRICHMENT NOTES:
03/22/17
Calm and relaxed. Begins to purr when spoken to. Will lean in for rubs and look around, curious. Really sweet and mellow.
EVALUATION:
Cage Condition: Cage is neat
Reaction to assessor: Sam was lying down by the front, calm and relaxed.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Sam looks at the assessor with almond-shaped eyes
Reaction to cage door opening: Sam slowly walks towards the back, but would come forward again.
Reaction to touch: Sam lowers his head in anticipation of touch on his head, but seems comfortable with petting on his back. He accepts petting on his head as long as my hand isn’t looming over him. Begins to purr and likes to sniff the assessor’s face during the interaction, then he leans his body against theirs.
Reaction to being picked up: Sam remains calm and continues to purr when held.
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow
VOCAL: Quiet
CHARACTER TYPE: Sweet, Affectionate, Calm
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Average
Sam interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.

Lab results.
CBC: Mild monocytosis (0.68 K/uL range 0.06-0.67), mildly decreased eosinophils (0.05 K/uL range 0.17-1.57), mild thrombocytopenia (139 K/uL range 151-600). HCT low normal at 30.4%.
CHEM: Mildly elevated globulins (6.1 g/dL range 2.8-5.1). Rest WNL.
T4: 2.1 ug/dL – WNL.
Assessment: Unremarkable. Mild thrombocytopenia – r/o artifact due to platelet clumping. Elevated globulins likely due to oral inflammation.
Plan: No therapy indicated at this time but needs dental cleaning and likely extractions when placed. Rec. recheck platelet count prior to any procedures.
