10/24/16 13:13 Finder did not have any interaction with animal as it was in a trap. Behavior during intake: Salamanca was at the back of the carrier, body stiff, tongue out. I was able to transfer from trap to den without any issues. In the den, Salamanca went to the back of the den, heaving breathing. When I opened the den door, Salamanca tried to flee therefore I was unable to collar.

Salamanca came to the shelter as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. Upon intake, Salamanca was nervous and did not allow handling. Reaction to assessor: Salamanca is hiding in her den. Reaction when softly spoken to: Salamanca continues to hide. Reaction to cage door opening: Salamanca hisses. Reaction to touch: Salamanca hisses and avoids touch, searches for an exit. Placement Determination: New Hope Only Salamanca does not approach the assessor and does not allow handling. Salamanca is exhibiting behavior suited to rescue partners.
