SAKURA – A1113902
Safe - 6-27-2017 Brooklyn
*** SAFE 06/27/17 *** Sakura is a beautiful young kitty with a plush white coat and what appears to be a mop of dark hair on top of her head. She has stunning eyes and a cute pink nose, and to top it all off, she’s friendly as can be! She’s not too fond of being picked up or held, but she’s super ready to join her perfect experienced kitty family. She currently has a URI.
Sakura is sad – her owner died and now she is in need of a new home! She is very upset and needs out now.

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Sakura was brought into our care center as a stray so there is no previous history available. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: hissing, screaming but not trying to bite EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Sakura is lying in the back of the kennel with a relaxed body and ears forward as the assessor approaches. Reaction when softly spoken to: Sakura begins to knead the floor with one paw as the assessor speaks to her. Reaction to cage door opening: Sakura comes forward with her tail raised when the cage door opens. Reaction to touch: Sakura allows petting along her head and body, leaning in with tail raised. Reaction to being picked up: Sakura tenses her body and growls, turning her head to watch the assessor’s arm when pick up is attempted. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Social, Bold, Affectionate POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: – Uncomfortable with pick up Sakura did not appear to like being picked up during their behavior evaluation. Please keep in mind there are many reasons why a cat may be uncomfortable with this type of handling and that this may not necessarily translate into a home environment. We recommend any future home with children be counseled in respecting the cat’s space and for the family to use care when picking her up, especially while she is still adjusting to her new home. RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced cat parent Sakura appreciates attention and allows petting but becomes uncomfortable when attempted to be picked up and held. Sakura may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
