I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 07/20/2017 from NY 10467, owner surrender reason stated was OWNER DIED. I came in with Group/Litter #K17-104688.

A1119119 Saginaw – Experienced determination; He becomes alert when approached for interaction, but remains tense and immobile as the cage door opens. He attempts to shift away to avoid contact, but tolerates gentle petting along his head and body when approached slowly. He doesn’t seem to mind attention, but seems to be more focused on his surroundings.

KNOWN HISTORY: Siginaw was brought in without information on his behavior in his previous home. He allowed all handling during the intake process. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – allows exam, nervous EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Siginaw was looking at the assessor with his ears slightly tilted. Reaction when softly spoken to: Siginaw continues to focus on the assessor and appears tense. Reaction to cage door opening: Siginaw presses his body against the back wall and his eyes dart around. Reaction to touch: Siginaw shifts away, hesitant of touch, but accepts gentle petting with a slow approach and closes his eyes. He remains in place and lip licks, but is very tense and seems wary of his surroundings. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Shy, Calm RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced cat parents – Siginaw tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may need time to warm up to his new home and family. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
