08/08/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Sadie was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Her finder has been caring for her for 10 days and reports she was socialized with their other cats in the home, but tended to hide during the day because of noisiness, but comes out during the night to play. The finder says she is affectionate, gentle, playful, and relaxed around people she knows. She didn’t have experience with children, but is responsive to love, attention, and kindness. Her finder feels she would do well in a home without children due to being fearful of loud noises and too much stimuli. When her surroundings are calm and quiet, she comes out to play and seeks attention. Reaction to assessor: Sadie was lying down by the back, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Sadie looks at the assessor, and then looks around at her surroundings. Reaction to cage door opening: Sadie becomes alert and curls her tail close to her body. Reaction to touch: Sadie comes forward to sniff the assessor’s hand and accepts petting. She begins to purr, leans in for petting, and lifts her rear when pet on her lower back. She appears to appreciate petting and attention, but seems a bit shy and would curl up against the assessor with her tail tucked closely to her body. Reaction to pick up: Sadie remains soft and nuzzles against the assessor, purring. Behavior Determination: Average Sadie interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents. Due to her timid behavior, we recommend any future home with young children conduct a thorough interaction before adopting.
