I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 05/10/2017 from NY 11385, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

05/15/17 Monitor senior cat with abd mass, anemia, and diarrhea. S/O: BARH. Social, active, comes right to front of cage for attention. Eating/drinking well. No vomiting. Soft formed feces in litterbox. EENT: No oculonasal discharge, no sneezing. A: Stable condition, diarrhea improving. P: Continue to monitor while at BACC.

05/10/17 19:37 Francisco found Rugby by MYRTLE AVE AND CYPRESS HILLS by the cemetry. He almost hit him with his truck. Rugby allowed Francisco to pick him up and put him in his truck. During the car ride, Rugby was nervous and sat in the corner of the seat thw whole ride. During intake, counselor was able to scan, collar, and place him back in his carrier.

KNOWN HISTORY: Rugby was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Calm, social, very friendly. Allows all handling. ENRICHMENT NOTES: 05/11/17 Sitting relaxed in litter box. Comes forward and head-butts my hand, leaning into petting. Doing well after first day. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Rugby was lying down on his blanket with a relaxed body. Reaction when softly spoken to: Rugby lifts his head up looks over at the assessor with soft, relaxed eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Rugby remains calm. Reaction to touch: Rugby sniffs the assessor’s hand then closes his eyes when rubbed on his cheeks. He slowly leans in for petting then gently nudges the assessor for more attention. Reaction to being picked up: Rugby was calm when picked up, and allows all handling. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Sweet, Lap cat Please note that this cat is being treated for a medical condition at the time of evaluation. It is difficult to determine at this time how the medical condition may be affecting the behavior. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Average Rugby interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.

05/11/17 DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: 8 yrs. Microchip noted on Intake? No. History : Stray cat, no medical concerns noted. Subjective: Observed Behavior – Calm, social, very friendly. Allows all handling. Evidence of Cruelty seen – No. Evidence of Trauma seen – No. Objective: BARH. mm= lt pink, moist, CRT<2 s. HR=200, RR=28. BCS=3/9. ORAL: Mild calculus, dental staining. EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal discharge noted. PLN: No enlargements noted. H/L: Lungs clear, no murmurs/arrhythmias. ABD: Irregular, firm, mid-abdominal mass palpated. Mass is not painful, and feels associated with small intestines. U/G: Neutered male. MSI: Ambulatory x 4, no lameness. Full, clean haircoat. No skin lesions. CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities. A: Approx. 8 yr old cat with abdominal mass, thin body condition. Suspect intestinal mass – r/o benign vs malignant neoplasia, other. P: Scheduled for CBC/CHEM/T4 and radiographs. Monitor appetite, and watch for vomiting/diarrhea while at BACC. Guarded prognosis. Would need abdominal ultrasound and biopsy for further assessment of mass.
