I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 08/28/2017 from NY 10468, owner surrender reason stated was MOVE2PRIVA.

Roxy is at-risk with an adult only determination. She becomes stiff and alert when approached for interaction and will attempt to shift away to avoid contact. She shifts away from petting, but will allow gentle petting. Although she tolerates petting, she displays signs of discomfort and will growl while flicking the end of her tail. When uncomfortable, she will stress meow and pat the assessor’s hand away.

She lived with a 1 year old and was relaxed, respectful, and tolerant with the cat. She plays with adults exuberant and plays with children in a gentle manner. She has not been around cats or dogs so behavior is uknown. there is no bite or scratch history of a person or animal. behavior There are no behavior issues owner is concerned about. She meows on public transportation. There are no litterbox issues. she isnt btohered with bath time. Owner has never tried trimming her nails. She isnt bothered with brushing of coat. Sh isnt bothered with picking up and holding. She isnt bothered with placing in carrier. for the new family to know Owner described her as friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow, and quiet with a very high activity level. When owner is home she likes to follow you around. she plays with any type of toys. she is indoors only and eats dry food friskies. She uses a litterbox that is uncovered and must be always clean or she will not go. She used crystals litter and had a cat tower made out of carpet behavior upon intake Roxy was hesitant about coming out of carrier. She allowed counselor to take her out she sat still for intake photo. She allowed collaring and scannign and being placed back in carrier

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Steady VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Timid, Curious KNOWN HISTORY: Lived Indoors Previously lived with: adults and 1 year old Behavior toward strangers: unknown Behavior toward children: relaxed, respectful, and tolerant; She plays with adults exuberant and plays with children in a gentle manner. Bite or Scratch history: none Litter box training: yes Other notes: described her as friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow, and quiet with a very high activity level. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – need capture net to examine/restrain, very vocal, hissing ENRICHMENT NOTES: 8/29/17 Sitting up on shelf, wide-eyed, looking around, seemed curious. Eyes became dilated on approach. Started hissing when door opened, posture stiffened. Tapped assess-a-hand without claws, retreated briefly back into cubby. 8/30/17 Sitting up in cubby, eyes wide and little dilated, alert. Stepped back and sat down again when door opened. Leaned away from touch and raised paw as if to strike. No vocalizing today. Didn’t eat treats until left alone for several minutes. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Roxy becomes alert, sitting upright in her cage cubby with normal shape eyes. Reaction when softly spoken to: Roxy began to lip lick in place. Reaction to cage door opening: Roxy began to slowly retreat further to the back, ears erect and forward. Reaction to touch: Roxy leans away from the assessor’s hand then began to low tail flick and growls when touched. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Roxy may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home who understands this cat may need time to warm up to her new home and family at her own pace.
