Basic Information: Rover is a male, 6 month old, domestic shorthair cat.  He was born at home and unfortunately had to be surrendered because previous owner she did not have time. Rover has never been to the vet and previous owner is unaware of any health issues.

Socialization: Rover is fearful around strangers and will hide for days if someone is over. Rover has never been around children or dogs. He’s lived with his mother cat and her litter mates, Gabrielle A1126991 and Sabrina A1126989. They are relaxed and playful together. He has never bitten another animal or human.

Behavior: Rover will hide in fear and will keep her distance from people. While riding in a car he is relaxed and quiet. Previous owner has never given Rover a bath, trimmed her nails, or brushed his coat. Rover is scared when previous owner tried to pick him up and will try to flee from owner. He would not allow previous owner to get near him. He will struggle when trying to be put her into a carrier as well. Previous owner never disturbed him while she was sleeping.

For a new family to know: Rover is a shy, fearful, independent, quiet cat. He has a medium activity level and loves to sit on the windowsill and look outside. When previous owner is home he will rarely seek attention and likes to play with string toys. He is indoors only and sleeps in the living room on his bed with his littermates. Rover eats hard food and has it in a big bowl available to him all day. He is litter boxed trained and had an uncovered litter box with clumping litter. He used the Arm and Hammer brand. He never used a scratching post.

Upon intake, Rover was hissing, spitting, and swatting. Did not allow handling.

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:
Rover tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He/she may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home who understands this cat may need time to warm up to his new home and family at his own pace.
