KNOWN HISTORY: Rocket was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on his behavior in his previous home. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – tries to escape, vocal. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Rocket was lying down by the front, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Rocket looks at the assessor, but then looks away. Reaction to cage door opening: Rocket becomes alert and retreats to the back. Reaction to touch: Rocket looks at the assessor’s hand and meows very softly. He appears interested, but unsure. He slowly leans forward to sniff, but inches away when petting is attempted. He allows gentle petting with a very slow approach, meowing softly during the interaction. He blinks softly afterwards. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Somewhat chatty CHARACTER TYPE: Curious, Timid RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced cat parent – Rocket tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may need time to warm up to his new home and family. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
