06/25/17 12:13 Socialization Around strangers, robinson is shy for a few minutes and warms up eventually then will approach them for petting. he lived with a 14 year old and 8 year old child. Owner described him fearful with the 8 year old and stays away from the child. He is affectionate with the 14 year old. He is somewhat rough playing with children and adults. He has not been around cats and dogs so behavior reasons. There is a scratch history with a person. There is not a scratch history with an animal. behavior Owner stated the behavior issues is scratching people and hiding in fear. He meows and cries in car rides. There are no litterbox issues. He is afraid and struggles with bath time, Owner has never tried trimming of nails.He is afraid of being picked up and trys to struggle to get out. He is afraid of the carrier and struggles when going in. For the new family to know Owner described robinson as affectionate sometimes, fearful, and talkative with a medium activity level. When owner is home he likes to be in the same room. he plays with balls and strings. He wa skept mostly indoors. He ate dry food. He used a uncovered litterbox with clumping litter. He scratches on furniture made out of carpet behavior upon intake Robinson alllowed some handling like pickin gup with towel and placed in carrier. He was lip licking and stress meowing, counselor did not continue much handling to avoid stress

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Steady VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Timid KNOWN HISTORY: Lived Indoors Previously lived with: 14 year old and 8 year old child Behavior toward strangers: shy for a few minutes and warms up eventually then will approach them for petting Behavior toward children: affectionate; somewhat rough playing Bite or Scratch history: Yes, whenever the cat gets scared he freaks out and scratches. Litter box training: none Other notes: Former owner described Robinson as affectionate sometimes, fearful, and talkative with a medium activity level. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – tries to flee; yowls but allows handling ENRICHMENT NOTES: 6/26/17 Laying towards back, wide eyed, head low. Seemed unsure. Became alert when door opened, stood and retreated to back, hunched down again. Leaned away when pet, stressed meowed, hissed once. 6/27/17 Resting under kuranda bed, soft bodied but alert and watchful. Postured stiffened when door opened, leaned back against wall. Flattened ears and hissed when pet, but didn’t swat or move away. 6/28/17 Crouched under kuranda bed, wide-eyed. Became alert when cage cover lifted, eyes darting, whiskers forward. Shifted slightly in place when touched, but allowed all pets, and slowly started to eat treats. 6/29/17 Still laying under kuranda bed. Became alert when door opened, posture stiffened. Sniffed assess-a-hand, then sniffed treats, but didn’t eat. Curled up tighter when touched, hissed once, started whining. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Robinson remains crouched position on his cage bedding during the approach. Reaction to cage door opening: Robinson body stiffens, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Robinson stress meows in place, allows a brief touch on the head with ears flat and sideways while he slowly retreats avoiding contact. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Robinson may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
