GONE 9/3/16 Poor Ricky was trapped and brought to BACC because, according to the person who caught her, people in the neighborhood were trying to poison stray cats. She is wounded, will need some XTLC. Don’t overlook lovely Ricky! Please help her heal!!!!

A: GENERALIZED, SEVERE CONTACT DERMATITIS VS OTHER
P: CONTINUE WITH CURRENT TREATMENT AND MONITORING PLAN. FAIR PROGNOSIS

Sedated for initial exam – due to behavior – growling and attempt to bite but may be painful.
Scan negative.
Intact female – approx 1 yo.
BAR before sedating. Mild dehydration.
MMpk. Eyes clr. NND. Oral – no ulcers.
MSI: Erythematous alopecic patches with mild swelling dorsal medial to eyes and down bridge or nose. Maxillary muzzle swollen with some redn patches and ulcers on L lip.
All 4 paws erythematous swollen paws. LF paw most swollen with purulent d/c between pads. Bilateral swelling from paws up to elbows. Ventral chest and abdomen erythematous and swollen with some red patches under proximal tail. Haircoat covered with some dried fluid uner mouth, on neck, legs, ventral chest. abd, and on tail. No fleas seen.
CV: HR=220, NSR, NM.
L: clr bilat.
Abd: soft.
UG: Mammary glands all swollen and red as is surrounding tissue, lactating.
- A) Marked pododermatis – infected. Erythamoutous dermatitis on face, under chest and abdomen, and ventral tail.
R/O contact topical contaminant exposure vs immune vs other infection
- P) Bathed to remove possible contaminant.
Buprenex 0.21 cc sq. Repeat BID x 5 days.
Pen G 0.5 cc sq.
Start clavamox 0.8 cc po bid x 18 days. Can be switched to convenia if unable to give oral meds.
CT – neg.
Did not give SQF because waking up and difficult to restrain after bath. Re-check hydration and VC tomorrow.
Aggressive behavior may be due to pain but placed as Red for now.
PROGNOSIS: Guarded
