KNOWN HISTORY: Reginald former owner was seized and the cat was brought into the care center. Other notes: Calm; Allows petting and handling MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – growling. Allowed limited handling. Tried to bite after medical handling ENRICHMENT NOTES: 3/26/17 Very tense, low posture, eyes dilated, whiskers forward. Near constant tail flicking throughout interaction. Hissed once when given a toy. Occasionally came slowly to the front for treats. Stood when door opened, moved away to avoid touch. 3/27/17 Crouched under bed, stiff posture, eyes dilated, occasional lip licking when spoken to. Hissed and retreated when attempted touch. 3/28/17 Crouched in middle of cage, stiff posture, eyes dilated. Hissed on approach, then came slowly forward and sniffed hand between bars. Seemed very interested in treats. Hissed and struck assess-a-hand when touched. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Reginald showed no interest to the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Reginald remained crouched position in place with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Reginald at first, sniffed the assessor’s hand then sat up, hissed and strucked when attempting to touch. Reaction to being picked up: Unable to perform due to behavior. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow, and another if applicable VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Bold, Skittish, and Independent BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Reginald is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time. RECOMMENDATIONS: – Placement with a New Hope partner
