KNOWN HISTORY: Raphael was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on his behavior history in a home environment. His finder kept him for a week and reports he was shy for a few days and stayed hidden. Raphael is a litter box trained and uses a uncovered with clumping litter. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – brief exam in net, fearful and very tense, wide eyes, not hissing or growling Cage Condition: Cage is slightly re-arranged Reaction to assessor: Raphael approaches the front and sniffs around. Reaction when softly spoken to: Raphael continues to sniff around and focuses on movement in the room. Reaction to cage door opening: Raphael retreats to his other kennel space, but comes back after a moment. Reaction to touch: Raphael sniffs the assessor’s hand and head-butts lightly. He allows strokes on his head and body, but he seems more focuses on movement in the room. He tenses up at times and his tail starts to sway. Reaction to being picked up: Raphael is tense when picked up and struggles to be placed back down. He seems wary of sudden noise and movement. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Shy Sweet Curious POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: None BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: Experience Behavior Asilomar TM – Treatable-Manageable BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Raphael appreciates attention, but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter.
