Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Because Raleigh was brought in to our care center as a stray we have no previous history available. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – calm quiet, allows exam with minimal restraint. ENRICHMENT NOTES: 08/21/17 Sitting crouched in litterbox, ears tilted. She remains still as I reach towards her and leans in gently when pet on the head. She warms up when pet along her body, beginning to raise her butt and tail into the air. Comes forward after a few moments and leans in for full body petting. A bit nervous after first day, she warms up during interaction and appreciates attention. Likes treats. 08/27/17 Comes forward as I open the kennel door, vocalizing softly. She allows petting along her head and body and remains right in the front of the kennel, head leaning against me. She chirps when I pick her up and continues to purr as I hold her like a baby. Turns around and head-butts my hand when placed back in the kennel. Sweet and friendly girl – appreciates and allows all petting and handling. Doing great! 08/28/17 Comes through portal with tail raised as I open the kennel door. Vocalizes softly in greeting and leans into petting. Remains right on the ledge of the kennel and leans against me for the duration of session. Allows petting with tail raised. Head-butts and chirps softly. Gentle and friendly, she continues to allow all handling and appreciate attention. Sweet girl. Doing great! ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Somewhat chatty CHARACTER TYPE: Sweet, Calm, Affectionate RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced cat parent Raleigh remains calm during interactions and appreciates/allows all petting and handling. Although she is showing behaviors in our care center that are appropriate for beginner pet parents, due to a bite incident the behavior team must recommend that she goes to a home with experienced pet owners.
