SAFE 4/8/18 Kitten With URI at BACC! The Quintessential & Quaint QUISHA!. QUISHA is a 10 month old kitten that has moderate to severe conjunctivitis in her right eye. She’s a bit nervous at the shelter and would do best in a home with an experienced foster or adopter.

Crouched inside her litter box, feint sleeping. Inches away and arches her body when approached. Not interested in treats or tuna. Hisses and displays distance increasing behavior when touched with the assess-a-hand.

Crouched on top of kuranda bed, body and face tense. She tilts her ears as I reach towards her with the bear-claw and swats it out the way before it can touch her. Not interested in treats at the moment. Limited interaction due to stress. Needs time to adjust.

Progress exam
History: Intake 3/30. Started on doxycycline, ofloxacin, and given a shot of convenia for desmetocele and possible URI.
3/31-added gabapentin and simbadol to treatment
Subjective: QAR. No csvd. Mild URI signs. Holding right eye about 50% closed. Litter and food scattered throughout the cage. During simbadol dosing yesterday had to be netted and it was very traumatizing to her-will d/c today.
Objective:
EENT: blepharospasm OD, unable to assess globe cageside, OS WNL, no ocular or nasal discharge
HL: Normal RR/RE, eupneic
INTEG: GHC
MS: Ambulatory x 4
NEURO: A&A

EENT: Corneal defect OD, OS WNL, no ocular or nasal discharge

P: Adding simbadol 0.36ml SQ q24 x 3 days and gabapentin 1.1ml PO q24 x 3 days. Continue to monitor while at BACC. OK to move out of medical

Nervous, initially used net but she became calm so we were able to take her out and handles her by scruffing her without any issues

UG f/i, no obvious spay scar or tattoo

A:Desmetocele OD
Otherwise apparently healthy
P:Gabapentin 1.1 mL PO given
Convenia 8 mg/kg SQ given
Flushed out right eye
Applied ofloxacin OD
Monitor for any URI signs
Will start doxycycline just to be safe and for possible secondary bacterial infection in right eye
Good prognosis
Ok for surgery as long as no URI signs
