Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Purell was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Reaction to assessor: Purell was lying down on her blanket and started to grumble when the assessor approached. Reaction when softly spoken to: Purell’s eyes widen, she starts lip licking and she doesn’t get up or come forward when coaxed. Reaction to cage door opening: Purell hisses and inches away. Reaction to touch: Purell’s ears bend flat, she raises her paw and arches her back. She hisses when the assessor’s extends his hand out, leans away and currently doesn’t allow any contact Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Purell is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. She has tried to swat, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
