Client stated she found this cat and 7 others in a box on her front stoop. She cannot take care of these cats and does not know who dropped these cats off at her doorstep or why. She had a friend help her bring the box into his car and brought them over to SIACC asap.

Pumpkin came to the shelter as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. Upon intake, Pumpkin allowed all handling. Reaction to assessor: Pumpkin is sitting in the back of her cubby. Reaction when softly spoken to: Pumpkin looks at the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Pumpkin remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Pumpkin leans into petting and begins to purr, allows petting all over body. Reaction to pick up: Pumpkin is tense, uncomfortable during this type of handling. Placement Determination: Average Pumpkin does not approach the assessor, but appreciates petting and tolerates most handling. Pumpkin is exhibiting behavior suited to average cat parents.
