EENT: OU-moderate blepharospasm, mild mucoid discharge; mild serous nasal discharge; AU-clear
Oral Exam:mm pk, sl tacky; CRT <2 sec; moderate tartar/staining, gingival recession along canines
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: eupnic, heart/lungs WNL
ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated
U/G: male intact, 2 scrotal testicles
MSI: ambulatory x 4 with no lameness noted; moderate matting over dorsum and tail-area along L dorsum that was shaved on intake; overall hair coat unthrifty
CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Erythromycin OU BID x 10 days
Doxycycline 50 mg/ml: 1.2 ml PO SID x 10 days
LRS 100 ml SQ SID x 3 days
SURGERY: permanent waiver due to age
Puck was brought in as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. Puck was receptive to touch and allowed all handling throughout intake. Pushed head toward hand when petting.
Reaction to assessor:
Puck remains neutral, lying down in his cage cubby during the approach.
Reaction when softly spoken to:
Puck remains immobile in place.
Reaction to cage door opening:
Puck lifts head up with eyes wide open, ears erect and forward.
Reaction to touch:
Puck accepts the touch and purrs while he enjoys chin rubs.
Reaction to being picked up:
Puck becomes antsy then jumps back into the cage.
Potential challenges comments:
H – Healthy
Puck interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
