Basic Information
Principe is a 14 year old, white and orange, male cat. He was surrendered because owner moved to a new apartment with a no pet policy. Owner got him as a gift from her sister. He has no signs of illness or injury.
Socialization
Principe is shy around strangers-but loves to make an introduction by sniffing you before getting close after a few minutes. He lived and spent time with children ages 2 and 4 and was relaxed, affectionate and respectful around them. He is gentle when he played with adults and children and never bit a human or another animal.
Behavior
Principe does not scratch on furniture or have litter box accidents. He is relaxed when riding in a car; struggles when bathed and does not like his nails trimmed. He enjoys his coat brushed and does not like to be picked up and held. He struggles a little when placed in a carrier but settles down afterwards and isn’t bothered if disturbed while asleep.
For a new Family to know
Principe is a mellow and independent cat with medium energy. He is very independent and was kept mostly indoors; stays in a favorite spot at home and sleeps all day; never played with toys and slept on a big cat bed. He was fed dry cat food (Purina indoors) twice daily; is house/litter box trained and used an uncovered litter box with crystals cat litter. Principe only scratched on a cardboard type scratch post.
Behavior during Intake
Principe had a soft body, came out of his carrier on cue, allowed to be picked up, collared, photographed and placed in a kennel.
