Hissing, growling, not tolerant of restraint,
ENRICHMENT NOTES:
05/22/18
Crouched in back of kennel, body tense and eyes wide. Avoids eye contact when spoken to. He perks up once touched and arches his back as my hand passes along his back. He allows a few more pets along his head and body while leaning in slightly, eyes remaining wide, before whipping his head back and hissing with ears flattened. Unsure, needs more time to adjust.
05/27/18
Lying in litterbox, body neutral and ears forward. Eyes are alert. He smells my hand as I reach towards him and allows petting along head and body while leaning, tail swaying back and forth. Tail becomes slightly pilo-erect and begins to wave back and forth even more with continued petting and he begins to whip his head back to watch my hand. May be showing signs of overstimulation or may be uncomfortable with extended interaction.
05/28/18
Lying in litterbox, body neutral and ears forward. Eyes are alert. He leans in for petting once approached and stands up to step forward. Leans in and allows all petting. His ears tilt and his tail begins to sway back and forth when petting is concentrated along his lower back. More tolerant of petting today – doing well!
05/29/18
Lying in litterbox, body relaxed and ears forward. Makes eye contact when spoken to and stretches when I open the kennel door. Allows petting along his head and body while leaning in and raising his tail. His tail waves back and forth with continued petting and he turns his head to watch my hand. Allows further petting with no further reaction. Showing improvement – did well today!

Prince was lying down in the back of the kennel, watching the assessor with dilated pupils.

Reaction to touch:
