*** SAFE 12/27/17 *** PRENTISS was brought in by her owner covered in watery diarrhea!! She recently had a litter of kittens and now was dumped. Prentiss is a sweet friendly girl and was purring at intake. She needs a new home where someone will love her.

Hello, my name is Prentiss. My animal id is #15868. I am a desexed female black cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 2 years 1 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 11-Dec-2017, with the surrender reason stated as animal behaviour – aggressive towards people.

Prentiss is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection which is contagious to other cats. Prentiss will likely require in home care with a course of antibiotics. There are no behavior concerns for Prentiss at this time, beginner determination.

Hx: Diarrhea. Recent litters (6 mo and 3 mo old) Good appetite S: BAR-H, MMs pink, BCS 4/9 EENT: No discharge OU, AU, nose H/L: Purring, couldn’t hear heart! Eupnic. Abd: Soft abd, full stomach UG: Female, FULL mammary glands – lactating when expressed M/S/I: Small amount of crusty diarrhea on hind legs. No lesions noted. Amb x4. Neuro: Alert and appropriate A: 1. Hx diarrhea – R/O GI parasites, pt on multiple dewormers 2. Lactating – recent litters P: Continue current tx, if no further diarrhea by tomorrow, okay to move out of Medical 1088
Hx: h/o diarrhea and lactation; currently on panacur and ponazuril S/O -BAR, very flirty and interactive -great appetite -no bowel movement in cage, normal urine in box -no nasal discharge or sneezing -OU: open and clear -lactating A 1. Diarrhea, suspect parasites; none seen today 2. Lactating P okay to move out of medical CTM for resolution of diarrhea
Cage-side exam Finished panacur and ponazuril. No diarrhea reported. Stool in litter box is formed and normal. No further tx required.
S/O -BAR, friendly and affectionate; euphoric secondary to simbadol -good appetite, no vomiting or diarrhea noted -mm pk, moist -no nasal discharge, may have soft sneezed once but then did not hear again -OU: open and clear -eupnic -spay incision CDI A -doing well post-operatively -possible early URI P continue post-op pain management monitor for URI

Pre-surgical exam, anesthesia, and surgery performed by ASPCA. Green linear tattoo placed lateral to incision. Start 0.39 cc simbadol 1.8 mg/ml sid x 3 days and 0.30 cc Robenacoxib 20 mg/ml sid x 3 days as pain management.

Basic Information:: Prentiss is a 4 year old black and white DSH female indoor outdoor cat. She was found as a stray when she was a few weeks old. She was surrendered because of her behavior.

How is this cat around children?: Printess lived with a 4 year old and a 10 year old for 4 years. The 4 year old did not interact with her much. The 10 year old picked her up and played with her. Printess was relaxed and affectionate with the 10 year old. She doesn’t play.
How is this cat around other cats?: Printess lived with 2 of her litter. A litter of 2 that were 3 months old and a litter of 3 Thayer were 6 months old. With them she was affectionate and very tolerant. She did not play with them.
How is this cat around dogs?: Printess has not interacted with cats.
Behavior Notes: Printess isn’t bothered if her coat is brushed, if she is placed in a carrier or disturbed while sleeping. She growls if she is held for too long.
Bite history:: Printess has never bitten a person or animal.

For a New Family to Know: Printess is described as confident and quiet. When she was home she rarely seemed attention. She lived mainly outdoors. At night she slept in a chair. She ate both Purina wet and dry food. She is house trained and use an uncovered litter box.

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Observed Behavior -purring, allows exam
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: At the front on approach, soft eyes and body. Started meowing and enthusiastically rubbing against the bars. Stayed at the front when door opened, ate treats from my hand. Leaned and arched into pets, purred. 12/21/17 [Clicker training] Solicits attention and rubs on the cage door when approached, but she tends to retreat and shift away from contact during interactions. She shows interest in tuna, so I rewarded her each time she allowed petting. She tries to dodge petting, but will lift her rear up once touched. Her tail sways wildly, but she does not get overstimulated with petting. needs more positive reinforcement with touch, but is very sweet.

Reaction to cage door opening:: Prentiss remains standing at the front of the cage, relaxed body posture, soliciting attention.
Reaction to touch:: Prentiss slowly head bunts the assessor’s hand and appreciates petting on the head and body.
Reaction to being picked up:: Briefly allows then jumps back into the cage.
