11/15/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Poughkeepsie was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Reaction to assessor: Poughkeepsie was lying down at the back of the kennel with her body lowered. Reaction when softly spoken to: Poughkeepsie lowers her body, with wide eyes focused on all movements and doesn’t get up or come forward when coaxed. Reaction to cage door opening: Poughkeepsie remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Poughkeepsie focuses on the assessor’s hand when he approaches and hisses with her ears bent flat. She tolerates petting briefly then becomes uncomfortable and shifts away with her tail lowered. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Poughkeepsie tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
