02/22/17 09:36 Basic Information Portia is an approximate 10 month female old domestic short hair. She was left behind in front of a Manhattan Fire Station inside a carrier with a male cat. An Animal Care Center employee picked her up after being notified by a person walking her dog. Behavior during Intake Portia tolerated all handling. Once the carrier door was opened she came right out purring and head butting my hand. No signs of aggression were displayed.

Hunched near front, started hissing and growling on approach. Ate treats once left alone. ACTIVITY LEVEL: not able to fairly assess VOCAL: Unknown CHARACTER TYPE: not able to assess RECOMMENDATIONS: _x_ Placement with a New Hope partner – Portia is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She has tried to swat and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
