***SAFE 08/11/16***POLAND IS A HEALTHY NEUTERED BOY WHO WAS “BROUGHT IN AS A STRAY” AND WILL NOW DIE ONLY BECAUSE HE DIDN’T LIKE BEING TOUCHED!! Well how would you like it if someone stuffed you into a cage and dumped you in a strange place? POLAND is already neutered which does say that he is most likely a pet who was lost, abandoned, or their owner was too chicken to fess up to dumping his cat. POLAND came from Brooklyn, and someone out there didn’t want him around. POLAND is only 3 yrs old and most likely would do fine with a little patience and understanding. But the ACC has punished this healthy cat with a NEW HOPE ONLY rating and gave him til NOON to find a rescue angel. IF YOU ARE A CAT PERSON WHO UNDERSTANDS THAT NEW HOPE RATINGS ONLY MEASURE A CAT’S FEAR IN THE SHELTER AND ARE WILLING TO GIVE THIS BOY A CHANCE, PLEASE HURRY AND CONTACT A RESCUE NOW TO PULL HIM TO SAFETY!! HE ONLY HAS TIL NOON – AND ONLY HAS YOU TO SAVE HIM!!

08/06/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Poland was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. Reaction to assessor: Poland was at the front of the kennel eating his eat dry food. Reaction when softly spoken to: Poland grumbles and reaches out with paws. Reaction to cage door opening: Poland grumbles and backs away. Reaction to touch: Poland leans forward to sniffs the assessor’s hand then backs away. He hisses and swats when you extend your hand to pet him. Poland moves to the back of the kennel, lowers his body and doesn’t allow further contact. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Poland is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to swat and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
