I am a female white and black domestic sh mix. The shelter thinks I am about 13 WEEKS old.
I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 07/30/2017 from NY 10035, owner surrender reason stated was TNR. I came in with Group/Litter #K17-106097.

Pokey A1120298 is at risk due to URI diagnosis and behavior. Pokey does not appear to be thriving in the shelter environment and displays fearful behaviors. She becomes stiff and alert when approached, and will focus on the assessor. She does not allow petting at this time and will continuously dodge the person’s hand; attempting to flee when she has the opportunity.

Scanned neg on intake – MC placed during LVT exam History : Stray – brought in for SNR Subjective: Hissing and spitting, ran away. Caught with towel and restrained for exam – pt very tense, terrified, limited exam. Objective BAR-H. BCS 5/9, MMs pink and moist EENT: Mild mucoid ocular discharge OU, mild crusty nasal discharge. Mild black discharge AU. Oral Exam: Small amount of bleeding from gingiva near incisors due to struggle prior to exam. PLN: No significant enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: Female kitten MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: Normal externally Assessment: Mild URI/conjunctivitis Plan: Move to isolation, start doxycycline 0.3 ml PO SID x10 days, erythromycin OU BID x10 days Prognosis: Good SURGERY: Temporary waiver due to URI/conjunctivitis. 1088

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Steady VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish ENRICHMENT NOTES: 7/31/17 Anxious, hunched at back under kuranda bed, behind bedding, eyes dilated. Crouched lower when spoken to. Became alert when door opened, fled around cage to avoid touch. 8/1/17 Hunched in litter box behind hidey den, eyes dilated, still fearful. Became alert when door opened. Panicked and fled around cage to avoid touch. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Pokey remains tense tucked limbs hiding in a hidey box during the approach. Reaction to cage door opening: Pokey runs out of hiding, stiffens up with tail tucked close to the body and eyes dilated. Reaction to touch: Pokey dodges the assessor’s hand and runs with tail low into the opposite direction, avoiding contact. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Pockey is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
