This darling little boy with unusual markings lost his home when his family moved and decided not to take him along. He is described as friendly, affectionate, mellow and likes to sit on his owner’s lap to be fed. Doesn’t he sound positively purrfect? Only problem is this purrfectly sweet and healthy kitty is slated to become another sad ACC stat when tomorrow afternoon rolls around unless his hero comes forward tonight? 04/06/16 16:40 Basic Information: PJ is a 1 year old domestic short hair cat who likes to be carried, and likes to sit on his owners lap to be fed. PJ has had no known injuries or health problems while with his previous owner. Socialization: Around strangers PJ is shy for a couple of days then will play exuberantly with adults. PJ has lived with one 6 year old; around that child PJ was relaxed, affectionate and played gently. PJ has never been around any other cats or dogs so it is unnown how he will react to them. PJ has never bitten another person or animal. Behavior: PJ has no behavior issues and is relaxed when he rides in a car. PJ’s prevous owner id not attmept to give PJ a bath so it is unknown how he will react tot that event. PJ enjoys having his nails trimed, being piced p and held, being placed in a carrier, and being disturbed while he is sleeping/resting. For a New Family to Know: PJ is described as: friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow, shy, talkative, and quiet with a medum activity level. When at home PJ will follow around his owner and likes to play with balls, string, wand toys, stuffed toys, catnip toys and laser pointers. PJ was kept indoors only and likes to sleep in the middle of room, in closets and at the end of the bed. PJ was fed both wet and dry food from the brand fancy feast. PJ is litter box trained and uses an uncovered litter box with freesh step litter. PJ tends to scratch on walls. Intake Behavior: PJ allowed staff to collar, scan for a microchip and take pictures with no signs of aggression.

04/09/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE

As per previous owner, Around strangers PJ is shy for a couple of days then will play exuberantly with adults. PJ has lived with a 6 year old. Around that child PJ was relaxed, affectionate and played gently. PJ has never been around any other cats or dogs so it is unknown how he will react to them. Our enrichment facilitator has interacted with PJ and at the time he was curled up in the back. Pj makes eye contact and sniffs hand. PJ takes some time to warm up but eventually rubs against hand and head butts. Reaction to assessor: PJ does not come to front but remains neutral When spoken quietly: PJ does not come to front but remains neutral Reaction to door cage opening: PJ remains motionless Reaction to touch: PJ seems indifferent to my presence and touch at first but allows eventually leans into touch. Try picking cat up: PJ is tolerant of this type of handling but tense. Behavior Determination: Experience At the time of the assessment PJ was displaying timid behavior; does not seek attention from the assessor and becomes alert when the kennel was open. Remains motionless as I started to get closer. I was able to pet him and interact with him in a limited way. I was also able to pick him up and although he was tense no fractious behavior was display. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
