08/28/16 15:44 Basic Information Pixie is a 6 year old spayed Tortie who is being surrendered because owner’s health does not allow her to have a pet. Owner was directed by her doctor to re-home her cat. Owner adopted her from a shelter in Long Island when she was a kitten. Owner stated Pixie has no medical issues and last saw a vet 3 years ago. Socialization Pixie is fearful around stranger and may hiss if cornered. She has never lived or been around any kids. She plays with owner only. She plays in a gentle manner with her owner. She has never been around any other kind of animal. She has never bitten or scratched a person or animal. Behavior Owner stated Pixie for some reason will hiss and swat at her niece. This is the only person she would do that too. She was relaxed during the car ride to our shelter. Pixie is not bothered if bathed, by having her nails trimmed, being brushed, being picked up, placed in carrier, or if disturbed while sleeping. For a New Family to Know Pixie is described as independent and confident with a medium activity level. Owner stated she is very smart and will open doors and gates. She will follow her owner around when home. She likes to play all kinds of toys. She really likes empty boxes. She is kept indoors only and sleeps in her cat castle. She is fed Meow Mix seafood medley, 2 scoops twice a day. She uses a hooded cat litter box with Fresh Step crystal style litter. She scratches on a leather cushion provided by her owner. Behavior during Intake Pixie tolerated all handling during intake. I was able to pick her up from her wheeled carrier without any signs of aggression and place her on our counter for her photo shoot. No signs of aggression were displayed during intake.
