07/14/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Shy, Timid KNOWN HISTORY: Lived Indoors Previously lived with: adults and cats Behavior toward cats: did not get along but separated most of the time Litter box training: yes Other notes: Housemate described Pipi that she stays to herself and hides. ENRICHMENT NOTES: 7/12/17 Crouched in litter box, eye fully dilated, head down. Became alert when door opened, whiskers forward. Sniffed assess-a-hand, tolerated pets, but turned head away. Seemed uncomfortably with surroundings. 7/13/17 Laying on bedding, tense, eyes dilated, whiskers forward. Flinched and started lip licking when given toy. Stretched neck out to sniff at toy, but didn’t get up. After a long while, started returning slow blinks! Hissed and started growling and lip licking when door opened. Sniffed assess-a-hand, hissed and sat up when attempted touch. Eventually tolerated very brief pets, but still hissing, growling, and lip licking. Slowly ate treats within reach after door closed. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Pipi remains tense, tucked limbs lying down on her cage bedding. Reaction to cage door opening: Pipi pupils dilated, head turns away, lip licking in place. Reaction to touch: Pipi distance increases with tail down, stiff body, but when touched she quivers in place, lip licks and remains immobile. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Pipi may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
