03/11/2017 PET PROFILE MEMO
03/11/17 15:24 Pinto A1105912 is a black and white DSH feline with a cute moustache who was found along with two other cats Okra A1105911 & Brussels A1105910 in an auto repair shop in the Bronx a little while before being brought in. The finder stated they’re a cat lover who was concerned about the cats well being and thought it best for them to be brought in to us especially because they believe the trio are sick. The finder was able to lure them into a cat carrier with food and bring them into our care center. Behavior during Intake During intake Pinto stayed to the rear of the cat kennel he was accompanied in with Okra. He initially came out but ran back into the carrier when Okra was taken out. Upon coming out of the carrier, he fled and a freeman net was used. Due to Pinto’s fleeing and not wanting to be handled much I was unable to collar or take his/her picture on the back drop.

Fear aggression can occur when a cat perceives a threat and may escalate if they cannot escape. A fearful cat will feel more relaxed when given options, so provide him with the chance to move closer, investigate, or interact with you. Be sure to offer incentive such as treats or play time whenever the cat makes a small positive step. Please speak to an adoption counselor for additional information on methods to desensitize your cat to their fear stimulus. RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced cat parent – Pinto tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may have some behavioral issues that will need to be addressed in the home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
