I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 06/29/2017 from NY 10457, owner surrender reason stated was ATT PEOPLE.

A1116935 Pinky – Experienced determination; Previous owner reports she may take a few weeks to warm up to new people. She hides inside a cat den when approached and seems wary of her surroundings. She allows the assessor to gently pet her, but she remains completely frozen when touched.

06/29/17 16:52 Basic: Chinky is a 2 year old unaltered female who is not declawed. Chinky was given to the owner as a gift when a friend had a cat who gave birth. Chinky does not have any known medical problems, Chinky has never seen a vet before. Chinky moved recently to a new home and was not adjusting well with the resident cats. Socialization: When strangers come over to the house, Chinky hides and it takes her about a week to warm up to people she has never met before. If Chinky is cornered by a stranger, she attempts to flee. Chinky only plays sometimes and when she does, she plays somewhat rough. Chinky has lived with one unaltered male and she did fine with him, but when she was moved into a home with just two altered male cats, she would bite, scratch, and hiss at them but never drew blood. Chinky did not appreciate being in the company of these other cats. Chinky has never bitten a person, however she has scratched, further info in behavior memo. Behavior: Chinky scratches furniture, she does not get along with other animals, further info in behavior memo. Chinky cries in a car at first but then she calms down and relaxes, eventually falling asleep. Chinky has never had a bath, nail trim, had her coat brushed before. Chinky is hesitant when being picked up and she does not like being placed in a carrier. For a New Family to Know: Chinky is described as shy, independent, and very mellow. Chinky enjoys playing with strings, wand toys, and laser pointers. Chinky’s activity level is medium and she enjoys sleeping. Chinky likes to sleep on the bed, the floor, or anywhere comfortable. Chinky has been an indoors only cat her whole life, she is fed meow mix or 9 lives dry food, she is fed a 1/2 cup twice a day. Chinky is very litter box trained and uses a hooded litterbox with any kind of clumping clay. Chinky does not use a scratcher, she uses furniture or drapes.

Litter box training: none Other notes: described as shy, independent, and very mellow. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Pinky remains hiding in the cat den, crouched position during the approach. Reaction to cage door opening: Pinky stiffens up in place, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Pinky briefly allows the touch, but shows no interest during the contact. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Experience Pinky may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
