07/16/17 10:25 Basic information Pinky is a 13 year old neutered Brown DSH with no known medical conditions. Owner has had Pinky for 13 years and is surrendering him along with his housemate Fefe because of allergies in the home. Socialization Pinky has lived with children ages 5 and 1 and is respectful towards them. Pinky doesn’t play with the children but allows to be pet by them. Around strangers Pinky is friendly and outgoing. Pinky has not lived with dogs and behavior is not known for interacting with them. Pinky has lived with another cat and is relaxed and affectionate with the cat. Pinky plays gently with both the cat and adults. Pinky does not have a bite or scratch history. Behavior IN car rides Pinky is quiet. Pinky isnt bothered when getting bathes or having his nails trimmed and enjoys getting brushed, Pinky also isnt bothered when being picked up and held or being placed in a carrier. For the new family to know Pinky was described as friendly with a medium activity level. Pinky enjoys playing with balls. When home with Pinky he likes to wander around the house in all the rooms. Pinky is litter box trained and uses a covered litter box with sand litter. Pinky doesn’t have a scratching post at home but doesn’t scratch on anything. Pinky eats Purina wet and dry food mixed. Pinky sleeps on the floor anywhere. Behavior during intake. Pinky was active during intake. He came right out of the carrier and enjoyed being pet. Pinky allowed to be scanned and collar with no problem. Pinky started to get tense on the back drop and began to hiss and growl. Pinky allowed all handling.

KNOWN HISTORY: Lived Indoors Previously lived with: Adults and children (ages 5 & 1) Behavior toward strangers: Friendly and outgoing Behavior toward children: Respectful Behavior toward cats: Lived with another cat and was relaxed and affectionate Behavior toward dogs: Unknown Bite or Scratch history: None Litter box training: Yes Energy level/descriptors: Friendly with a medium activity level. Other notes: He isn’t bothered when getting bathes or having his nails trimmed and enjoys getting brushed. He doesn’t mind being picked up and held or being placed in a carrier. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: approaches then retreats, hissing. Towel needed for exam. ENRICHMENT NOTES: 07/18/17 Lying laterally in the back of his cage, still and head resting on the ground as he breathes very softly. He lifts his head as I reach forwards and allows petting along his head, leaning in gently and beginning to purr. His body tenses and he turns his head to watch my hand as I pet him along his lower back, paw raised. Needs more time to adjust. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Pinky was relaxed and lying down on his blanket near the back of the cage. Reaction when softly spoken to: Pinky makes eye contact with assessor then rolls around and rubs against the cage furnishings. Reaction to cage door opening: Pinky lowers his body and becomes alert. Reaction to touch: Pinky watches the assessor’s movements and seems a little unsure of contact. He sniffs, accepts touch and slowly warms up with attention. His body feels a bit tense and he prefers soft, gentle pets along his back. He leans in when rubbed on his cheeks, purrs softly and appreciates attention as long as you go slowly. He tenses up and whips around quickly with any sudden movements or when pet too hard. Reaction to being picked up: Pinky had a tense body when picked up then got antsy and leaped back into the cage. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Timid RECOMMENDATIONS: Experienced cat parent – Pinky may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
