***SAFE 05/24/16*** So, on May 18th some guy decided to rid his yard of two of the cats he had been feeding there, and the two unfortunate cats he managed to catch, were GARDNER and PERSIA. He was told that both cats could be killed if he left them with the ACC, but dude figured that was okay by him, so he did whatever made it possible to walk away from the ACC—and Persia and Gardner—forever. Both cats are understandably freaked out at the ACC, and both cats earned NEW HOPE ratings. The guy who put them into this position did mention that they were nicer when they were eating, which suggests that these two should come around if they are given a chance. That chance only happens if a NEW HOPE rescue steps up for them tonight!

05/22/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Persia was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Reaction to assessor: Persia was curled up tight at the back of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Persia presses her body up against the back wall and has eyes focused on all movements. Reaction to cage door opening: Persia remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Persia’s ears bend flat and she slowly leans away as I approached her. She hisses then quickly tries to flee the kennel. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Persia is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
