KNOWN HISTORY: Periwinkle was brought in as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. He was receptive to handling during intake and allowed the counselor to pick him up and hold him. He had a relaxed body posture and was wandering around. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – Very easy to handle. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is slightly re-arranged Reaction to assessor: Periwinkle was calm, relaxed, and friendly upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Periwinkle looks at the assessor with soft shaped eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Periwinkle remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Periwinkle approaches the front and accepts petting. He arches his back, leans over, and begins to purr. Reaction to pick up: Periwinkle remains soft and continues to purr when held. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Social, Sweet, Playful BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Beginner Periwinkle interacts with the observer, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat can go to a beginner home.
