07/13/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Percy was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Nervous, ears back but allows exam ENRICHMENT NOTES: 07/11/17 Sitting crouched in back of kennel with a tense face and body. She tolerates petting while turning her head away from my hand, ears flat. Needs more time to adjust. 07/12/17 Sitting crouched in back of kennel, ears titled as she’s facing the back corner. She turns around and chirps when I pen the kennel door, ears shifting forward. Allows petting along her head and body, leaning in while remaining in a crouched position with soft eyes. Doing well today! EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Percy was crouched in the back of the cage with wide eyes focused on the assessor. Reaction when softly spoken to: Percy lip licks and meows very softly but doesn’t get up or come forward when coaxed. Reaction to cage door opening: Percy remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Percy meows, shifts her body weight and leans back when the assessor extends his hand out. She accepts petting on her head, slowly warms up then leans her head in allowing rubs on her cheeks. Her body feels a bit tense but she perks up, appreciates attention and slowly inches towards the front of the cage. Reaction to being picked up: Percy was tense when picked up, then got antsy and leaped back into the cage. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Timid RECOMMENDATIONS: Experienced cat parent – Percy may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
