Pepsi was surrendered by her owner and needs a new home and some follow up dental. She’s an absolute doll. Open your heart and home. All she needs is some TLC and a round of meds and you will have a friend fur life. TRANSPORTATION AVAILABLE. MUST BE RESERVED BY NOON.

Hello, my name is Pepsi. My animal id is #11746. I am a female black cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 8 years 1 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 04-Nov-2017, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- landlord won’t allow.
Pepsi is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection which is contagious to other cats. She will likely require in home care with a course of antibiotics. There are no known behavior concerns for Pepsi at this time.

Observed Behavior – Evidence of Cruelty seen – Evidence of Trauma seen – Objective T = P = wnl R = eup BCS 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: mild dental calculus and gingivitis, p resisted oral exam PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: intact female, no MGTs, no vulvar dc MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: normal externally Assessment apparently healthy Prognosis: excellent Plan: plan for OHE SURGERY: Okay for surgery

Upon intake, Pepsi came up to counselor for pets and was interested in her surroundings. She allowed counselor to collar, pet, take her picture, and pick her up.

Basic Information:: Pepsi is an 8 year old, female, Domestic shorthair cat. Previous owner has had her for a month but unfortunately has to surrender due to not being allowed to have pets in her apartment. Pepsi has no known health issues and has not been to the vet.
Previously lived with:: 2 adults
How is this cat around strangers?: Pepsi is shy for a few minutes when strangers come over but will eventually rub herself on the persons legs and look for pets. She doesn’t play with adults but prefers affection.
How is this cat around children?: Pepsi has spent time around a 12 year old child. She is relaxed and affectionate but does not play. She prefers affection.
How is this cat around other cats?: Pepsi has not spent time around cats, behavior is unknown.
How is this cat around dogs?: Pepsi has not spent time around dogs, behavior is unknown.
Behavior Notes: Pepsi will meow or cry throughout car rides. Previous owner has never given Pepsi a bath, trimmed her nails, or Brush her. Pepsi enjoys being picked up and isn’t bothered when being put inside a carrier or disturbed while sleeping.
Bite history:: Pepsi has not bitten another animal or person.

For a New Family to Know: Pepsi is a friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow, quiet cat. She has a medium energy level and will follow you around while you are home. She doesn’t play but prefers to get pet and cuddle up with you. She is indoors only and enjoys sleeping with owner. Pepsi ate meow mix and friskies dry food 2 times a day. She enjoys temptations cat treats . Pepsi is litter box trained and used an uncovered litter box with clay litter. She had a rough rope scratching post.

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Subjective: very curious
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: Asleep on approach, woke when spoken to. Lay in place, eyes dilated, but soft posture. Stood and came forward when door opened. Leaned and arched into pets. One brief hiss, possibly overstimulated, calmed quickly and resumed soliciting attention.
Cage Condition:: No change
Reaction to assessor:: Pepsi remains neutral, crouched position on her cage bedding.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Pepsi becomes alert with normal shape eyes.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Pepsi remains immobile in place, ears erect and forward.
Reaction to touch:: Pepsi lip licks in place and slowly retreats while looking around her surroundings. However, she warms up quickly then engages the front and began to lean into the assessor’s hand while she purrs and appreciates the petting.
Reaction to being picked up:: She becomes antsy then jumps back into the cage.
