07/09/16 14:06 Basic information: Pepper is a male domestic short hair cat who was surrendered for personal reasons. Socialization: Around strangers Pepper is shy for a few minutes and plays gently with adults. Pepper has spent time with children ages infant to 9 years old. Around them pepper is relaxed, affectionate and plays gently with them. Pepper has lived with 3 other cats of the same age and is relaxed and affectionate toward them. Pepper has also lived with small dogs who he was relaxed and affectionate toward. Behavior: Pepper has never bitten another person or animal and has no behavior issues. Pepper will struggle when being given a bath and having his nails trimmed. Pepper is not bothered by being brushed, picked up/held, placed in a carrier or disturbed while resting/sleeping. For a New Family to Know: Pepper is described as: friendly, confident, affectionate, playful and aloof with a low activity level. When at home Pepper will follow around his owner and likes to stay in the same room as his owner. Pepper has a free choice with a pet door to go inside and out. Pepper was fed both wet and dry food. Pepper is litter box trained and used a hooded litter box with clumping litter. Pepper scratched on a small mat made of carpet. Intake Behavior Will flee could not be collared.

As per previous owner, Around strangers Pepper is shy for a few minutes then plays gently with adults. Pepper has spent time with children ages infant to nine years old. Around them Pepper is relaxed, affectionate and plays gently with them. Pepper has lived with three other cats of the same age. He is relaxed and affectionate toward them. Pepper has also lived with small dogs who he was relaxed and affectionate toward. Reaction to assessor: Pepper stays at the back of the cage and looked at the assessor with wide eyes When spoken quietly: Pepper continues to watch the assessor with wide eyes Reaction to door cage opening: Pepper tries to flee Reaction to touch: Pepper allows limited petting before attempting to flee and stress meowing Try picking cat up: Did not attempt Behavior Determination: Experience No Child At the time of the assessment Peper was displaying fearful behavior; does not seek attention from the assessor and becomes alert when the kennel was open. Pepper tries to flee as I started to get closer. I was able to pet her and interact with her in a limited way. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents with no children.
