PEONY – A1078505
Safe - 7-5-2016 Brooklyn Rescue: Staten Island Hope Please honor your pledges: http://www.statenislandhoperescue.org/
**SAFE 07/05/16** Daffodil and Peony are terrified and fighting for their lives. Why you ask? Well they were forced to fend for themselves on the mean streets of Brooklyn, learning not to trust anyone. Then suddenly they were caught and brought into a High Kill Shelter where the air and environment reek of fear and death. So can you blame them? They don’t know who they can trust and are trying to fight their way to freedom. Well we all know that isn’t how it works. The ACC thrives on “difficult” cats, it’s easier to get rid of them than try to save them. Well everyone deserves a chance, especially the scared ones. Daffodil and Peony need your help tonight, they need a home where they can decompress and learn how to trust again, an experienced home which has dealt with cats like Daffodil and Peony would be best. They can only be pulled by a New Hope rescue. Share them before it is too late.

06/26/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Peony was hiding in the cat den when I approached the cage When spoken quietly: Peony continues to hide Reaction to door cage opening: Peony looks at the assessor through the holes in the cat den Reaction to touch: Peony comes out for food and allows petting on her head for a brief moment before hissing and lifting her paw to swat Try picking cat up: Peony did not attempt to pick the cat up due to fractious behavior. Behavior Determination: NewHope was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to was seeing during the evaluation. She seems to not be thriving in this environment and at the time of the assessment she was displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home .Peony currently does not tolerate much petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
