01/30/2017 PET PROFILE MEMO
01/30/17 17:00 On intake, Penny allowed counselor to pick her up out of her founder’s carrier and place her into one of ours. However, she did hiss when counselor touched her belly which seems large and tender. Counselor placed food outside carrier to get Penny back out for pictures and collaring. Penny ran out of the carrier to the smell of food and began woofing it down. She allowed counselor to collar during this and when counselor lifted food away, she looked up for pictures. Counselor placed food back into carrier and Penny followed the scent back in. She allowed counselor to pet her head and back.

02/02/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Penny was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Her finder found her on their windowsill for two days and decided to bring her in. Her finder reports she hisses when her belly is touched, but she allowed some handling during intake. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat. Reaction to assessor: Penny was relaxed and resting by the back. Reaction when softly spoken to: Penny wakes and looks at the assessor with almond-shaped eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Penny approaches the front and sniffs the assessor. Reaction to touch: Penny meows softly and head-butts the assessor’s hand lightly. She leans forward, arches her back, but will focus on the assessor’s hand when touched along her body and her tail sways. Reaction to pick up: Penny hisses and retreats to the back, grumbling. ENRICHMENT NOTES: 1/31/17 Inside of a carrier. Started hissing and growling when door opened. Later, briefly left carrier to eat, continued growling when approached. 2/1/17 Seems extremely aggravated today. Laying towards front, began hissing and growling despite cage cover. Escalated to screaming and snorting when cover lifted. Eyes fully dilated, ears pinned back. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Allows initial handling but hisses and growls on abdominal palpation. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Shy, Curious RECOMMENDATIONS: _x_ Experienced, adult home only – Penny appreciates some attention and petting but may dislike being touched on certain areas on her body. She may also need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
